Lopez, QUEZON โ€” Through the initiative of the Lopez Municipal Police Station (MPS) and their coordination with the Lopez LGU, the DENR-CENRO Calauag continues its tree growing campaign along the stream banks in Brgy. Conception, January 29, 2021.

The Lopez Municipal Police Station initiated the tree planting activity to show the PNPโ€™s concern for the environment and to minimize the unfavorable effects of climate change.

On the speech of the Calauag CENR Officer, Forester Joselito D. Barros, he enumerated some of the benefits of planting trees.

CENRO Barros mentioned that an acre of forest releases 4 tons of oxygen and absorbs 6 tons of carbon dioxide, which quite plays a significant role in increasing the relative humidity in the environment.

He added that trees also provide clothing, food, medicine, shelter, and other necessities for human, which he said are some of the reasons why we need to conduct such activities.

Meanwhile, CENRO Barros encouraged the Lopez LGU headed by Rachelle Ubana and Lopez MPS headed by PLtCol Margarito Umali to enter a tripartite agreement with the DENR under the โ€œTayo Ang Kalikasanโ€ (TAK). This is for them to actively support their drive in their upcoming tree planting and tree growing activities.

A total of 500 seedlings of Kalumpit and Molave were provided by CENRO Calauag and were planted by participants from Lopez LGU, Lopez MPS, Lopez BFP, DENR-CENRO Calauag, Barangay Conception LGU, MENRO, MPDC, and MDRRMC.
