Two months ago, the juvenile brahminy kite was entangled on a net when it tried to enter a chicken coop at Jetro Firing Range in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

PENRO Cavite thru the Quick Response Team led by For. Rhex Calipdan and in close coordination with the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, this Office rescued the bird on January 5, 2021 which was voluntarily handed over by the owner of the Firing Range. The owner wanted to turn over the bird to authorities immediately if it wasn’t during the holiday season.

After a week of health recovery supervised by the Provincial Veterinary Office in Trece Martires City. Today [12 January 2021], the juvenile brahminy kite was successfully released in the wild where it can continue its role in the cycle of life.

DENR keeps on reminding the public that illegal possession and sale of wildlife is punishable under Republic Act No. 9147 “Wildlife Act of the Philippines”.
