The DENR CALABARZON through the Enforcement Division conducted an assessment and consultative meeting on the implementation of Lawin Forest and Biodiversity Protection System via video conference on September 30, 2020.

During the meeting, the Lawin Data Managers of the Provincial and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENRO and CENRO) in the region discussed with the Chief, Enforcement Division the accomplishments of their respective offices from January 1, 2020-September 15, 2020 versus the targets per Forest Conservation Area Plan, including Lawin findings such as indicator species and threats observed during patrols, the offices' response to threats, analysis on the effectivity of Lawin implementation within the Conservation Areas, and issues and concerns on the implementation of the System. Prior to the presentations, Ms. Charissa Julianne Canelas from the Forest Management Bureau Lawin Unit mentored the Lawin Data Managers on the application of the Lawin Cyber Tracker.

Through the DENR Administrative Order No. 21, Series of 2018, the Department adopted the Lawin Forest and Biodiversity Protection System as a National Strategy for Forest Biodiversity in the country to strengthen forest and biodiversity protection through the application of a science-based and technology-aided forest protection system that is relevant to forest and biodiversity management.
