DENR CENRO Lipa conducted a coastal clean-up activity in observance of this year’s International Coastal Cleanup with the theme “Safe Oceans Start at Home”.

This year’s celebration was conducted at San Juan River traversing Barangay Poblacion 1, Sto. Tomas City, Batangas with a total seventy-six (76) participants which includes CENRO Lipa personnel headed by OIC CENR Officer Januel R. Peras, PENRO Batangas personnel headed by OIC PENR Officer Noel M. Recillo, San Juan River Rangers and Barangay Officials.

A total of forty-six (46) sacks which is equivalent to approximately 920 kgs. of non-biodegradables and residual wastes were collected within the stretch of 100 meter distance.

Also, an IEC lecture was given discussing brief background on the celebration of International Coastal Cleanup, overview about the ongoing project about San Juan River Rehabilitation in connection with the National Government efforts on the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program and proper waste segregation and disposal.

Be informed that health and safety measures against COVID-19 were properly observed and practiced during the activity.
