PENRO Cavite kickstarts the International Coastal Clean-up 2020 within the 1.2 km coastal length of Barangay Labac, Naic, Cavite.

DENR CALABARZON, Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo gave an inspirational message urging the local communities to engage in the department’s plans and programs in reducing the inputs of pollution in the environment prior to the clean up. He also conveyed that the community has a vital role in attaining positive program results as well as to achieve sustainability.

The clean-up activity was participated by volunteers from barangay Labac together with the river rangers, representatives from the LGU of Naic, PNP-MG, PCG, PG-ENRO, DILG, PENRO Cavite and personnel of DENR CALABARZON headed by RED Nonito M. Tamayo together with ARD for Management Services Nelson V. Gorospe and ARD for Technical Services Alfredo Palencia.

A total of 35 sacks of wastes with an approximate weight of 350 kgs were collected. The garbage gathered comprised primarily of single-use plastics (sachets, sando bags, wrappers) and residual waste mostly diapers.

The wastes will be hauled by the designated garbage collector of Naic and will be disposed in accredited sanitary landfill.
