The Besra was found released by DENR to the wild because of the numbered metal tag attached to its leg. It is used for individual identification and movement tracking of a wildlife species.

The subsequent recapture or recovery of the bird can provide information on migration, longevity, mortality, population, territoriality, feeding behavior, and other aspects that are studied by ornithologists.
