The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) – Laguna and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) – Sta. Cruz formalized its partnership with Mr. Cecilio L. Adorna by signing the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of the proposed two-hectare arboretum of native/endemic tree species in the latter’s privately owned lot located in Brgy. Dambo, Pangil, Laguna held at the DENR CALABARZON Regional Office on November 6, 2023.

Said arboretum to be established within the titled property of Mr. Adorna and siblings will support the conservation and protection of wildlife species and enhance the forest cover in the area. More importantly, it will help the DENR in the production of planting materials of native/endemic forest tree species which can be utilized in reforestation/tree growing activities. 

PENRO Laguna and CENRO Sta. Cruz will provide technical assistance and guidance to Mr. Adorna in the establishment of the said arboretum such as selection/profiling of species to be planted, species matching, propagation research, provision of seedlings, and establishing networks and linkages to other government agencies who may support the project. On the other hand, Mr. Adorna shall maintain the said arboretum and grant seedling requests from the community to encourage and educate them with the importance of green spaces. 

Present during the signing ceremony were DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria, PENRO Eriberto B. Saños, CENRO Venerando U. Garcia and Mr. Cecilio L. Adorna.
