San Francisco Integrated National High School bagged first place in the recently conducted  Mural Painting Contest with the theme “Tayo Ang Kalikasan” on August 30, 2019. The contest was organized by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) - Sta Cruz. Out of the Seven (7) public highschools in Laguna that participated, the first placer wowed the judges with its mural as they explained, “sama-sama pong nagtutulungan ang bawat isa para po sa ikagaganda ng ating environment. nakikita naman po sa (mural) na  responsable po sila sa mga basura na napro-produce ng mga tao at sinesegrate ang basura ”. The winning entry embodied the Tayo Ang Kalikasan tagline:  “Sama-samang Pagkilos. Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan”.

The OIC CENR Officer Victor H. Mercado underscored that “TAK is a movement that involves all citizens, not only the DENR, academe, and LGU, but it encompasses all sectors”.

Second Place winner is Pagsanjan Integrated National High School. Their mural showed that any individual regardless of social status, race, educational background and others, have their own respective responsibilities towards environmental protection. The Third Place winner, Don Manuel Rivera Memorial National High School, reflects the strong connection between humans and the environment. The environment provides the basic goods and services vital for human survival, so in return humans shall undertake even the smallest effort like waste segregation (3Rs) to ensure its protection.

Other participating schools are Gov. Felicisimo T. San Luis Integrated Senior Highschool, Linga National High School, Pedro Guevarra Memorial National High School, and San Roque National High School.

On the same day, the Ecological Rooftop Center was opened to the public.  The Center is a showcase of best practices on solid waste management, composting and urban greening. It also includes vermicomposting, hydroponics, and a mini Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). The CENRO Sta Cruz office is located in Barangay Duhat, Sta Cruz, Laguna.
