Sub-program 1: Assessment and packaging of technologies generated by DENR ERDB-ERDS
An assessment of ENR technologies on “The establishment of a bambusetum and nursery production of some bamboo species and the” Pilot Demonstration Plantation for Medicinal Forest Tree Species” for promotion were identified. Puser (Cyrtochloa puser), Bayog (Dendrocalamus merri lianus), Anos (Schizotachium lima) and Laak (Bambusa philippinensis) were the selected species for the bambusetum while for the Pilot Demonstration Farm for Medicinal Forest Tree Species were: Kamachile (Pithecelebium dulce), Bignai (Antidesma bunius), Banaba (Lagerstroemia species), Lipote (Syzygium polycephaloides), Igyo (Dysoxylum decandrum) and Dita (Alstonia scholaris).
Sub-program 2: Production and distribution of RDE publications, IEC materials, other modes of dissemination and IEC on Climate Change RDE
The ERDS packaged and disseminated flyers are the following :
1. Seed Production Areas
2. Seed Collection Quality Seeds
3. Seed Processing, Storage and Testing
4. Accreditation of Forest Nursery
These flyers were distributed to the different clienteles and stakeholders of the Southern Tagalog Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (STARRDEC) during the 24th Regional Research and Development Symposium Highlights at the Southern Luzon Poly-technique University (SLSU), Lucban, Quezon.
Sub-program 3: Adaptive intervention mechanisms for the DENR Research sector - LGU extension service partnership
Two (2) technologies were transferred during the year: “The establishment of a bambusetum and nursery production of some bamboo species and the” Pilot Demonstration Plantation for Medicinal Forest Tree Species” were evaluated. Both located in Brgy. Mamala 1, Sariaya, Quezon. This is in partnership with the People's Organization of Mamala 1 Vegetable Farmers Association (MVAI) and LGU of Sariaya Quezon.
Sub-program 4: Evaluation of the utilization of transferred technologies planting materials
For this year, two (2) technologies which were transferred during the previous quarter such as: “The establishment of a bambusetum and nursery production of some bamboo species and the” Pilot Demonstration Plantation for Medicinal Forest Tree Species” were evaluated.
Based on the evaluation, the impact of the technologies transferred could not be realized as the technologies transferred are still on the demonstration or showcase stage. Several activities have to be considered first such as:
→Training the LGUs and farmers on the establishment of nursery for bamboos and medicinal forest trees
→Training the LGUs and farmers on the establ i shment of plantations for bamboos and medicinal forest trees as well as the maintenance of the established plantations
→Training the LGUs and farmers on harvesting of bamboos and products from medicinal forest trees
These activities are the components of the technologies being transferred. It is also worth recommending to ERDB to determine the parameters and criteria for evaluation of the technologies being transferred.
