DENR CALABARZON Director Arsenio N. Tanchuling (leftmost) leads the newly appointed and promoted employees of the regional and field offices in reciting the oath of office during the oath-taking ceremony held on October 10, 2017. He was accompanied by Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for Management Services Arturo E. Fadriquela (2nd from left) and ARD for Technical Services Atty. Arnel P. Rodriguez (3rd from left).

The agony of long waiting has ended. Nine (9) months after the announcement on the third wave filling-up of vacant positions in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON regional and field offices, 177 chosen applicants finally took their respective oaths of the newly appointed and promoted employees of the said offices last October 10 at the NDN Grand Hotel, Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

Forester Ingrid L. De Leon, just promoted as Ecosystem Management Specialist II of the Enforcement Division, said that she was stunned when she learned that she got the position she was praying for ever since her application. She shared she had grown in her mind a thought that she might not get the position knowing that she had some tough competition and that, the release of the results seemed to become farther from reach with each passing month.

The Chair of the DENR CALABARZON Regional Personnel Selection and Promotions Board (RPSPB) and ARD for Management Services Arturo E. Fadriquela admitted that the Board had quite a difficult time throughout the process to a point where they almost gave up.

“Now that the filling-up process has finally ended, let us cherish what we have gone through as this is a milestone in our lives”, Fadriquela conveyed to the participants, as well as to the rest of the members of the Board who had spent days working overtime just to ensure that the procedure was well taken care of in accordance with the Civil Service rules.

DENR CALABARZON Director Arsenio N. Tanchuling warmly congratulated the newly oathed personnel and advised them to always keep in their minds, hearts, and actions the values which they have learned from their homes.

“Because we are public servants, it is but important that we put first the interest of the public before ours just as what our families have taught us. All of us have values and it is important that we keep it intact in order for us to not to fall into the temptation of corruption”, Tanchuling stressed to the new entrants and the newly promoted as he delivered his inspirational message.

Though some of the oath-takers are just about to start in the government service, DENR CALABARZON Assistant Director for Technical Services Atty. Arnel P. Rodriguez, who had recently turned 60, already hoped that they would be able to reach the retirement stage and earn the fruits of the long years of hard work as part of another stage in the life of a government servant he called the “retention stage”.

“It is in this stage that you strive to maintain all of the values which you are taught”, said Rodriguez, pertaining to the values which DENR CALABARZON Administrative Division Chief Dolores R. Borja discussed beforehand.

There were mixed reactions as regard to the appointed and promoted employees. Nevertheless, this was what Engr. Arthur Balatbat, a DENR Employees Union (DENREU) CALABARZON member, had to say: “Hindi ninyo makukuha ang posisyon na iyan kung hindi ninyo deserve”.

The DENR CALABARZON had started publicizing a total of 195 vacant positions with Salary Grades (SG) 1-24 on January 11, 2017. According to Borja, 18 of the positions below SG-24 will be re-posted after the thorough review of the RPSPB. On the other hand, the three (3) SG-24 positions will be deliberated at the DENR national office
