DENR Calabarzon takes another step to go ‘paperless’

Select 'document trackers' of the DENR Region 4A CALABARZON Regional Office gathered in conference on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, to concretize moves to implement ways to effectively manage and systematically track important documents and using the e-Document Action Tracking System (e-DATS). Dennis Segovia Jr., regional Information Systems Analyst from the Planning and Management division discussed the process and salient points of the System.

The e-DATS is an initiative of the DENR Central Office to facilitate the monitoring of documents in the whole department, including the regional, provincial and community environment offices.

Segovia said, "Eventually, all document actions will be done through the e-DATS, achieving the department’s aim to go paperless. The newly-introduced system will also address the problems in document action delays and archiving that has been plaguing the offices for a long time."

He stressed on the importance of the e-DATS: how to access it, how does one receive and send documents, and how does it make tracking documents more efficient.

He said that as of now those attending are those in-charge of keeping the documents in their respective divisions and are the ones provided with e-DATS accounts. As part of the DENR's efforts to implement effective document management and in the spirit of transparency in dealing with the public, Segovia concluded, “Soon, all employees will have an e-DATs account, as we (DENR employees) are all action officers.” (With Vera Merano, Administrative Assistant, RPAO)
