Harmonized Greening (January 31, 2013).  Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 4A-CALABARZON OIC-Regional Executive Director Reynulfo A. Juan emphasizes the importance of Applied Geotagging Technology in the implementation of the National Greening Program in the five provinces in the CALABARZON region, namely Cavite, Laguna, Batangas Rizal and Quezon, as well as in the whole Philippines, as this (geotagging) technology will greatly help DENR management facilitate access and monitor the different activities of the NGP throughout the country. At a training held at Luisa Ridge at the foothills of Mount Makiling in Pansol, Calamba, Laguna, Juan stressed that as the NGP enters its third year, trees planted as early as two years ago would have grown, and the geotagging technology would help verify where these have been planted, confirm these have survived, subsequently monitor improvements and survival, and identify other areas for planting until 2016.  The DENR regional head addressed training participants from the Provincial ENR Office’s field operations and planning sections who are involved in the NGP implementation and who would be building up an accessible and readily available geographic information database on NGP and program areas of the DENR in the region. He expects the database to be a useful tool for planning, monitoring assessment and decision making process.
