Operatives Apprehend Vehicles Transporting Assorted Wildlife Species

At around 3 o'clock in the morning of June 21, 2008, PNP Calaca Operatives apprehended assorted wild birds and mammals at Brgy. Sinisian, Calaca, Batangas on board a Mitsubishi Fuso Canter bearing plate number UCD 897 registered under the name of Mr. Nelson Munji of Block 3, Lot 25, Benadict Camella Homes, Las PIñas City. When the driver and his passengers failed to present any legal document covering the said wildlife cargo, the PNP officials led by Police Chief Inspector Gerson Sanchez Bisayas, PO3 Isagani Comia Zara and PO2 Wilfredo Galit Baldias immediately coordinated with the DENR CENR Officer in Calaca, who caused the actual inspection and inventory of the wildlife cargo. The intensive efforts of DENR is bringing down illegal logging activities resulted to apprehension of one unit of Isuzu Elf van bearing plate number PJF 990 loaded with 2,446.67 bd.ft. of undocumented Dipterocarp species last July 15, 2008. Prior to the apprehension of illegal forest products, the Region received an information that illegally cut/sawn lumber were being loaded at Barangay Daraitan, Tanay, Rizal ready to be transported out of the province.
